Core Capabilities
The laboratory develops and applies state-of-the-art analytical technologies—primarily mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography—to advance the understanding of cellular function at the protein, proteomic, metabolite, and metabolomic levels.
Effective October 1st, 2025, the Protein and Metabolite Characterization Core (PMCC) in Frederick will limit metabolomics services to projects that require assay development. All routine metabolomics services, including targeted and untargeted metabolomic analysis, will be discontinued. For alternative routine metabolomics services, please visit CCR Central or contact Mariam Malik and/or Chris McGinity.
Our Mission
The PMCC offers various technologies to CCR investigators for the characterization of proteins and metabolites. The laboratory develops and applies state-of-the-art analytical technologies, primarily mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography, to advance the understanding of cellular function at the protein and metabolite levels. The PMCC engages in both short- and long-term collaborations based on the need of each project. The PMCC is operated by Leidos Biomedical Research Inc. on behalf of NCI as part of the Frederick National Laboratory.
